Bio-Identical Hormones (BHRT)

What are hormones?

From metabolism to our mood, hormones affect every aspect of how our body functions. As we age, our hormones decline and fall out of balance, resulting in troubling symptoms including fatigue, hot flashes, low sex drive, weight gain, mood swings and depression. Fortunately, help is available to restore hormonal balance and well-being with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Glen Allen.*

What is BHRT?

BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy) uses natural hormones and not the synthetic forms that are found in traditional hormone replacement therapy. All-natural bio-identical hormones are a precise biochemical match to your own hormones. This means they can be easily absorbed and processed by the body.

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy Process

After your initial consultation, we perform an in-depth evaluation. This includes an analysis of your health history and bloodwork results. With careful consideration of your needs and goals, we will devise a personalized BHRT plan for you.

Once your BHRT plan is in effect for a period of time, we will bring you back for a follow-up and repeated testing to assess your progress. Additionally, these scheduled check-ins ensure your safety and allow for the fine-tuning of your treatment based upon changes in diet, work, sleep, health, and stress. It is typical for patients to receive pellets every three to four months.

How is BHRT administered?

We administer BHRT by placing pellets in your upper hip/butt area. We also offer creams and oral hormone tablets.

Does bio-identical hormone replacement therapy hurt?

On the contrary. BHRT is administered under the skin with tiny pellets. It is a simple procedure to administer BHRT, and we take every precaution to ensure your comfort. We use lidocaine to numb the area prior to insertion to alleviate any pain.
