What is truSculpt?
TruSculptTM is an FDA approved, non-invasive technology which destroys fat cells as it helps firm and tighten the skin, unlike other technologies that freeze the skin, Trusculpt helps firming and tightening skin. Unlike other technologies that freeze the skin.
How does it work?
TruSculpt uses Radio Frequency (RF) to help remove unwanted fat. Like other RF devices, TruSculpt will re-contour the body by targeting and disrupting specific pockets of fat cells. The heat from the RF energy can get to those cells without harming the skin’s surface. The fat dissolves and then eventually leaves the body through natural processes.
RF energy also stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that gives skin elasticity and structure, thus helping to tighten skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for TruSculpt is anyone who has unwanted fat or skin laxity. Trusculpt is not a weight loss solution but a body sculpting device. Trusculpt works best on people who who maintain a healthy diet & moderate exercise.
I’ve just completed my last TruSculpt treatment and wow! This is truly a miracle treatment. After three pregnancies it seemed that no matter how well I kept to my diet, exercise, or drink water, I couldn’t lose this inner tube around my waist. I had lost hope that my body would ever look relatively the way it had before having kids. After two treatments my waist is smaller, my stretch marks are barely noticeable, and the cellulite is gone! I weigh 10lbs less and the weight hasn’t returned! I keep to my healthy and active lifestyle and now I have the waist to match who I am!

Your suitability for truSculpt will be determined during your consultation with Dr. Kern. Patients that cannot be treated with truSculpt include:
– Those who are pregnant
– Those with cardiac pacemakers or internal defibrillators
– Those with malignant or benign tumors in the target area
– Those with metallic implants in the target area of any kind including joint replacements.
Yes, in general truSculpt can be used on all skin types.
Treatment time depends on the area(s) treated, but typically a treatment takes between 15 minutes and an hour per area treated.
Dr. Kern will discuss with you the likely number of treatments that will be needed based upon the area(s) you wish to have treated and your desired results. Typically 1-2 treatments are needed for each area, spaced 4-8 weeks apart.
There is no special preparation needed. You will have to remove any jewelry or body piercings in the area prior to treatment.
After a brief pre-treatment preparation, Dr. Kern will apply the truSculpt handpiece to your skin and will deliver targeted pulses of appropriately calibrated RF energy. Each pulse will last on average 4 minutes; upon completion, the handpiece will move to an adjacent area to begin a new pulse. The actual treatment will typically last between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on the number of pulses applied.
The RF energy will heat deep layers of the skin, but most patients find the resulting discomfort easily tolerable. Your physician can adjust the temperature depending upon your comfort level. Typically no pain medication, topical anesthetics, gels, or active cooling will be needed.
The truSculpt system is designed to provide a safe and comfortable procedure. Typically, there is no downtime after the treatment though patients may experience mild discomfort. Side effects can include redness, sweating, and mild tenderness in the treated areas. Usually these side effects resolve within a few hours. Dr. Kern will discuss what to expect during and after treatment during your consultation, and will answer any questions you may have.
